I started 3D modeling in 2014, I saw the potential with 3D printing of creating kits that do not exist currently and make them available for everybody. Furthermore by printing the parts through an external provider the investment in terms of money was minimal (basically the 3D software and buying the parts) compare to creating an injection kit for instance. My first model was the 1/32 lunar module. That particular model was in high demand to complement the 1/32 CSM from Monogram. Several attempts to create a kit were made in the past, one succeeded by providing a resin kit (Vista Replicas) but the company is not longer in service and a paper lunar module can be purchased on ebay.
One interesting aspect of 3D printing is also the fact that you can provide parts for different versions of each model and you can upscale or sometimes downscale parts or create new parts for very specific demands. It is a very flexible tool which eventually allowed me to create the very first plastic models of the various spacecraft mentioned below.
